Welcome to the new Curlykaren.com!

Karen Maria's songs are often heartrending, but tempered with wit and a wink at the absurdity of the world.  Her history of performing started on on Broadway in Annie at the Alvin Theater (Kate/Molly).   She moved to L.A. in 1996, found a guitar in 2003 and took off writing and recording and has never looked back!

She's performed her original music in such notable venues as - Whiskey A Go Go, The Hotel Cafe, The Derby, 14 Below and Taix Lounge in Los Angeles and Rockwood Music Hall, The Bowery Electric, The Baggot Inn, Kenny's Castaways, The C-Note, The Duplex, The National Underground and Roses Turn in New York City -- just to name a few.  She actively donates her talents to fundraisers in her hometown of Staten Island - from playing to help raise money for Sandy victims to benefits for the MS Walk team she has dedicated to her brother.

She's currently playing solo, duo and full band shows (with her band Shotgun Curly - which includes Steve Gregoire, Chris Grenard, Nathan Riehl, Jonas Manashowitz, Omar Ruiz and Courteney Cuomo).

Curly's album "Only the Ocean" was just signed to a distribution deal with Essential Media Group, LLC and is set to be released in the Fall of 2013!
